YAP — Practicalities
Travel Guide
What you need to know and bring for a successful YAP trip.
A YAP exchange is neither a holiday nor a formal work placement. It is something in between — a mix of staying with host families, organised activities and time for independent exploration.
What to bring
Travel documents and a valid ID card or passport
Proof of insurance and a copy of your registration form
A small gift or a typical Belgian treat for your host families
Comfortable shoes — you’ll be walking more than you think
Politeness and an open-minded attitude
During your stay
Write a short daily journal entry. Not to impress anyone, but to keep your memories fresh. Many former YAPpers wrote a contribution for the Hinges magazine based on these notes.
